South Central Conference August 31, 2010 Weekly Word
South Central congregationsand individuals have access to one of the most complete collections of Christian education materials available anywhere throughoutMennonite ChurchUSA. For this reason, we have not attempted to duplicate what already exists. That resource is theWestern District Conference ResourceLibrary and its director, Marlene Bogard, who serves as Minister ofChristianNurture.South Centraland two other area conferences (MountainStatesandCentral Plains) make annual contributions to help underwrite the cost of this resource. Those who live near itsNorth Newtonlocationcan visit any time to examine the wide variety of materials: books, periodicals, videos, DVDs, andchoral music. Those from a distance can access the catalog on the website:www.mennowdc.org; send an inquiry tocrlibmennowdc.org; or call(316) 283-6300. Materials will be sent promptly. Another feature is a box of books that can be ordered for a 2-month placement in thelocal church, including pre-selected titles or a variety chosen by Marlene. On a limited basis, and by pre-arrangement, Marlene can come to a local church for workshops, seminars, Sunday morning sermon/children's ministry, Safe Sanctuary training or other educational needs. There is a charge for this service. We encourage all of our congregations to take maximum advantage of this educational treasure.
